Altamont Plant Sales is not a typical garden centre. Situated within the Walled Garden of Altamont Gardens, in Kilbride, Ballon, County Carlow, one of Ireland’s most beautiful garden destinations and comprising not only a plant sales area but also the Corona North Commemorative Borders, the Walled Garden School of Horticultural Pursuits and the Walled Garden Café. In addition, events in the Walled Garden are also held throughout the year making it not your typical garden centre.
The plant sales stock plants that are rare and garden worthy. It is also a nursery with plants also chosen from leading nurseries and expert specialist growers in their fields, predominantly Irish grown and acclimated to Irish growing conditions.
Expert plant advice is to hand when looking for your ideal plant – “Ask a grower not a salesperson” when seeking out the perfect plant. Leading Irish plantsman Robert Miller has 20 years experience at Altamont Plant Sales.
